Since childhood I have had an interest in art. Born in Edmonton and I completed high school in Sherwood Park specializing in Commercial Arts under the excellent tutelage of Olfert Grundholm (Mr. Grundy). Art classes with Edmontonian artist, Jean Richard and at NAIT influenced my young adult years.
One evening in March 2006 while admiring a painting I had done years previously a friend asked, “Why aren’t you painting?” Weeks later I attended the first of many classes with Willie Wong.
December 2006 I sold my 1st commissioned painting. I have showed and sold at The Edmonton Art Gallery, The Tribute to Deb Maron Art Show & Sale and The Kamena Gallery Student Show.
October 2014 I won first place for acrylic on canvas in Art Trends competition. The painting 'Reflejos de la Luna' promptly sold. There are limited edition prints available.
I am proud to be featured in Mosiac, Mind, Body and Spirit magazine. I am enrolled in the Faculty of Extension Fine Arts Certificate program at the University of Alberta and have been a member of the Art Society of Strathcona since 2007.
My zeal for the latin culture has impelled me to name my paintings in Spanish.
Thanks to the support and encouragement of friends and family I continue my passion.

Pamm Ciupa was born in Montana, but moved to Southern Alberta when only a few months old. She spent most of her childhood in the coolies and windswept prairies, moving to the Shushwap in her late teens. The next decade Pamm moved from the Shushwap and into the Okanogan Valley, where she enjoyed exploring the vastness of BC’s natural landscape. Shortly after getting married, Pamm moved to Calgary with her husband and daughter, then making another move to Cochrane five years later found Pamm beginning her art journey.
On a walk in the spring of 2003 Pamm’s husband found an art supply store “The Paintbox” offering watercolor classes, and urged Pamm to begin her lifelong dream of painting. After attending courses with Marla Blackwell, Pamm began painting any moment she could. Wanting to share creative energies and support with other artists, Pamm looked for an art group to be a part of. The one art group in the area had a long wait-list, so Pamm and a few other local artists grew the ‘Foothills Art Club’ from an idea in the Fall of that same year, to the firmly rooted society of local artists that it is today.
Three years later, life found an opportunity for Pamm and family to move back to the
Province of BC. Home is now near Fernie BC in Elko, once again close to the Montana Border. Pamm now paints from a studio her husband resurrected from an old forestry bunkhouse on the family’s property. Upon finding out about Pamm’s move, the Foothills Art Club membership decided to vote Pamm in as a ‘Lifetime Honorary Member’. Pamm returns yearly to exhibit her art with the club for their Spring and Fall ‘Art Show and Sale’. Pamm enjoys rekindling past friendships and meeting the newer members of the club at these events. She plans continued involvement far into the future with the Foothills Art Club as time and good road conditions permit.

Art and music have been a constant part of Martin’s life for over 40 years. Born in England, he immigrated to Canada in the mid 1950s, living in southern Ontario with his family. Martin moved to Calgary in the early 1970s and earned a living as a professional musician. In 1983 he enrolled at Mount Royal College and graduated with a diploma from the Television Arts program. Martin completed his practicum at 2&7 Television and never left the company. During his tenure as a floor director he rekindled his passion for the arts.
Later in his career Martin enrolled in part time art classes at Alberta College of Art and Design, beginning his study in drawing and painting. Further education at the University of Calgary introduced him to acrylic painting which is his current medium of choice. Retiring from Global TV in 2014, Martin continues to work in the television industry specializing in freelance sports production. Retirement has given him the time to further explore his artistic interests and painting has become a mainstay in his life. Since 2012 Martin has explored landscapes with rustic settings, urban street scenes and all elements of transportation featuring a distinctive palette and empathy for a bygone era.
Martin has resided in Cochrane, Alberta since 2008 and is currently a member of two art clubs in town. In addition to painting, he is also an accomplished recording artist in the music industry.

Dale grew up in Cambridge, Ontario. She was one of only 18 students accepted into the Fine Art Program at Mount Allison University in 1972. She studied there for a year before marrying and moving to Alberta. From 1974 to 1985 Dale was active in evening workshops learning printmaking at the Alberta College of Art.
Dale currently belongs to two local clubs; the Foothills Art Club and the Beaupre Art Group where she exhibits regularly in exhibitions and sales.
Recently Dale’s art has been focused on painting with acrylic paints and inks. Some of her works employ traditional paint techniques while others delve into the diversity of effects that can be created using modern acrylic mediums and mixed media. Experimentation with these materials is used as a foundation for both representational and more abstract compositions.
“For me creating art is an ever changing and sometimes inexplicable process. The subjects that inspire me are varied and the techniques that I use are always evolving. I hope to achieve a degree of spontaneity in each piece that cannot be replicated. The joy of learning and creating with the many artists that I am honoured to have as friends is the most important aspect of art to me.”

Jeff was born and grew up in Calgary, and worked in the Oil Industry for many years. In the 1970s he moved with wife Gwen and boys Jeremy and Jesse to an acreage near Cochrane, and has lived there ever since. Jeff retired from active work in the industry, but still has a very small private company with some minor oil property interests.
Jeff started painting a few years ago, and has taken a number of classes from several highly skilled artists in a variety of mediums and styles. While he enjoys many different types of painting, he is most comfortable with oils and acrylics, and with landscapes, birds and animals. Jeff prefers realism over interpretive styles and abstracts. He is also working on his skills in pencil drawing and has done some wood carving, but painting is what gives him the most satisfaction. Jeff is a Past President of the Foothills Art Club.

Pauline was born and raised in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. After marrying Hugh McGregor she lived in various countries in the Middle East. When they returned to Canada, they settled in Calgary in 1967 but moved in 2001 to their current residence, high on a hill, only two kilometers from the Beaupre Community Hall.
Pauline’s grandfather was a well-known Italian portrait painter of aristocratic families. Her Grandfather’s work was a great inspiration for Pauline to start painting. She has taken figure drawing at the Alberta College of Art and since then she has taken numerous workshops with well-known Canadian artists including Mike Svob, Brent Laycock, Curtis Golumb, Ursula Reynolds & Anthony Steffes.
Pauline paints with three local art groups, joining the Cochrane Art Club in 2006, Foothills Art Club in 2009 and the Beaupre Artisans Group in 2001. She enjoys painting flowers and creating her own garden. More recently she has explored and enjoyed abstract art with mixed media and textures. Laura moved to the Cochrane area in 2003 where she learned that Mary Lou Brooks held art classes on Tuesday. Laura arrived at her first class with a grocery bag filled with old art supplies. Mary Lou took her under her wing and taught her the joy of water colour painting.
An opportunity to join a class with the Foothill Art Club presented itself one day. Laura arrived with her water colour paint bag and happened to sit beside Claire Miles. Claire shared her oil supplies and knowledge. The teacher, completed the base coat in acrylic and then moved to finish the painting in oil. This chance class has lead to further interests in both acrylic and oil painting. Laura joined the Foothills Art Club in 2007.
Laura would like to thank all the great friends she has met along this artisan walk. The constant encouragement, support, friendship, and too many cookies have truly impacted her life in a
manner that was truly unexpected. Laura loves all mediums and continues to explore how she can become more proficient in each of them.
By the way,the grocery bag of art supplies is long gone; it its place are buckets, tool
kits and other assortments of carrying vessels. The biggest challenge of painting is grabbing the right bucket when heading to the next class.

Gwen has been avid artist over many years while residing in various communities throughout B.C., Alberta and the NWT. She had to put her brushes away at times in some of the busy seasons of life, but always she kept an artist’s eye open to what could make a great painting – from a tiny flower to a grand expanse. Over the years, she has received instruction in both oils and watercolor, and also had the opportunity to teach art in a private school for a few years.
More recently, Gwen has been connected to Pro’s Art Studio in Edmonton, drawing from the expertise of Gene Prokop and Ann Waeland on site, whenever passing through the city. Most recently, since moving into the Cochrane area in 2011, she has joined the Foothills Arts Club.
Every place has its beauty, and though the mountains hold a special place in her heart, the thrill of the ocean’s roar to the silent waving of the prairie grain is every bit as captivating! Her paintings inspire others as she continues to portray this beauty on canvas.
